Teen/ Adult Modern w/ CJ Bernal Sat at 10:30-12:00


 Adult Beginner Ballet 13+
Mondays 5-6:15pm
In this class students learn basic ballet fundamentals and terminology, as well as steps across the floor and center work. This class teaches the student how to focus and be disciplined while having fun and building their knowledge.  Modified versions of steps and combinations are given to accommodate level and ability of each student.

Ballet/ Hip Hop for 9-12 yrs
TUESDAY 4–5pm
The ballet portion of this class will focus on proper placement, alignment, and technique. This includes warm up, exercises at the barre, movement combinations traveling across the floor, and center floor work for turns, leaps and steps. The hip hop portion of this class will focus on learning up beat combinations designed to increase students’ coordination, strength, and endurance. Students are taught how to use creative expression to create their own style and helped to develop confidence in expressing themselves. They will also learn choreography for both portions of the class.

 Tap Classes for 6-8 and 9-12 yrs
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 5:15-6:15 and 5:30-6:30PM
 
 In both tap portions depending on age group students will learn basic rhythm and beats. They will learn some fundamental terminology and build vocabulary. Students are taught coordination and how to use different parts of the foot in order to make different sounds and beats. These tap classes will consist of a warm up, main center work and choreography. (Tap shoes must be purchased for these classes, I will allow students to tap barefoot for the first two weeks ONLY till they are able to purchase shoes.)

Beginning Flamenco Dance For Teens and Adults (13yrs. +)

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 5:30-6:30pm

Explore flamenco, an exciting dance form, with powerful, mysterious, and alluring music. Learn about flamenco’s unique cultural practices and history.  Learn the different types of flamenco footwork and how to coordinate the sinuous arm movements to make the dance come alive. Rhythmic and expressive, flamenco is a workout for the whole body, mind, and spirit! Spring semester students will learn two dances, the traditional Sevillanas and a dancechoreographed to flamenco folksong,”Con El Vito.’ Both dances can be performed with castanets! Repertory coordinates with the Peña Flamenco de Taos class.Taught by Adair Landborn

 

Peña Flamenca de Taos – FREE!For Teens and Adults (13yrs. +)

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 6:30–7:30pm

Calling all flamenco aficionados! Like to Sing? Clap? Stomp? Dance and Play? Discover the roots of the flamenco arts as you experience singing this evocative song style with others and learn about flamenco’s unique rhythms and musical structures. Learning how to clap flamenco rhythms and sing traditional flamenco songs in community with fellow students is both mind-expanding and soul-enriching! Students at all levels of experience with flamenco are encouraged to come join in the fun!  Spring semester we will learn the flamenco folksong ’Con El Vito,’Sevillanas, the Tango de Málaga, and songs in the Buleríasrhythm.Taught by Adair Landborn

 

Intermediate/ Advanced Level Flamenco Technique & Repertory

For Teens and Adults (13yrs. +)

TUESDAY & THURSDAY 7:30–8:30pm

Improve your technical abilities through challenging footwork patterns and expand your expressive range by clarifying the spatial designs inherent in flamenco body placement and flamenco’s beautifully stylized arm movements. Bring it all together as you develop your own unique personal flamenco dance style and move ahead in your training in the flamenco arts. Students will learn a Tango de Málaga choreography as well as pasos for Bulerías. Repertory will coordinate with the Peña Flamenco de Taos class. Taught by Adair Landborn

 

Creative Modern & Flamenco Dance Parent/Child Dance Class 

FRIDAY 4:00–5:00pm

Beginning with a creative modern dance warm-up provides students with comprehensive dance technique, useful movement concepts, and the confidence to explore creatively. Rhythmic and exciting, the flamenco dance forms (Sevillanas&Rumba) offers great expressive and physical challenges to help growstrong young bodies and maintain strength for adults! Coordination of the different types of flamenco footwork with flamenco’s dramatic arm movements provides cognitive challenges for dancers of any age! Good posture, self-confidence, and musical understanding are valuable skills for children to gain early in life and for adults to retain through joyful dance practice. Taught by Adair Landborn
