Special
Friday Experiential Movement Workshops:
A series of three workshops will
be held on Fridays from 5:30–7:30pm. The first workshop on February 24th will introduce Laban’s Space
Harmony theories as they apply to dance: spatial orientaion, movement intention, and design. The second workshop on March
9th will present Landborn’s own doctoral research addressing the similarities between the movement vocabularies
of flamenco dance and Spanish bullfighting—a movement practicum complete with bullfighting capes! The third workshop
on March 23rd will provide insights into the sociality of Spanish culture as it relates to the improvisational
practices that are integral to the flamenco arts.

A second series of classes “Ritmos Flamencos” will
be held on three consecutive Fridays from 5:30-7pm. The series will focus on flamenco phrasing and compositional structures,
exploring the accenting and subdividing of beats that create flamenco footwork patterns. The class on March 30th
will focus on the flamenco four-count forms, both slow and fast tempos, (Farruca, Tangos, Rumba); the second class om April
6th will focus on flamenco’s slow twelve-count forms (Soleares and Siguiriyas) and the third class on April
13th will focus on flamenco’s faster twelve-count forms (Alegrías, and Bulerías).
